RecoverMyPartition Reference
Operation
RecoverMyPartition has been designed with simplicity in mind. By following a few simple steps we will guide your lost partitions back to safety:
- Start by choosing the disk with the lost partition (from a list of all disks in the computer)
- Select the Recover option, and click Start Search to begin searching the disk for lost partitions.
- Any lost partitions will be presented in an easy-to-understand list. Simply highlight the partition you would like to restore and click Restore, the partition will quickly be recovered.
- Reboot your computer for the restored partition to be re-identified
Additionally, RecoverMyPartition also included extra partition based functionality, including options for removing, sorting, and other partition based operations.
Installation
RecoverMyPartition is distributed as a compressed Windows installer (MSI file). The installation process can be started by directly running the msi located in the zip file. The installer will create a Start menu item named RecoverMyPartition, from which you can start recovering lost partitions.
Technical Overview
A disk partition is created with certain markings, which identifies its size, type, and location on the disk. RecoverMyPartition is designed to scan the disk looking for these marking. Once identified, RecoverMyPartition uses the available information to rebuild the partition and republish it to the Master Boot Record.
Requirements
RecoverMyPartition is designed to run under all Windows operating systems from Windows XP through Windows 7, including Windows Server operating systems.
